Who is the intended audience of FiveThirtyEight?
The intended audience of 538 is difficult to establish as the demographics of viewers is very difficult to monitor. Based on the content within the passage, one can assume that the majority of the audience is democratic or liberal as most of the articles revolve around criticism of the current president. Therefore, the intended audience is likely those who have a particular disliking towards the current president. The often comparison of former president Obama to the current president implies a favoritism towards the former president, who was a member of the democratic party. Many of the articles published by FiveThirtyEight have negative topics when referring to republican ideas or republican politicians. The very few articles dedicated to democratic, tend to be more positive and less judgmental, with exception to Hillary Clinton. (Just about every news company has commentary about the corrupt actions the Clinton family is involved in.) While FiveThirtyEight does keep a very low profile, in terms of political bias, there can be statements found within which provide evidence as to the possible political party the journalists support.
